I wonder if it's worthwhile pointing out that Israel's behaviour reminds me of the oppressive activities the Tsarist Russian Empire committed against Russian Jews? That was one of the things that turned me against Israel. It is bitterly ironic that Israel is now, for all intents and purposes, an outgrowth of the Tsarist Empire, at least in relation to the Palestinians, both Israeli Palestinians and Palestinians in the OPT.
Why should it be expected that Israel would make the necessary concessions? Of course it will not. It keeps saying so.
No, what's necessary is for the other nations (US, EU, UN) to exert sufficient pressure on Israel to allow Israel to see that the effective international rules have changed and that its own interest lies with making a generous two-state peace.
I it likely that this will happen? Getting more likely day by day, and certainly more likely than that Israel would do it voluntarily and without pressure.
